Lokomotiv Kuban took an important step towards keeping the core of its Eurocup-winning side together for its Turkish Airlines Euroleague debut by re-signing big man Richard Hendrix for an additional three seasons. Hendrix (2.03 meters, 27 years old) first joined Loko on loan in January and became a force in the paint as the club went on to win the Eurocup title. His 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting plus 9 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists and a block were key components in the 64-75 victory over Uxue Bilbao Basket in the Eurocup title game. He averaged 10.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.4 blocks over eight Eurocup games with Kuban. Hendrix started the 2012-13 season with EA7 Emporio Armani Milan of Italy, for whom he averaged 3.7 points and 3 rebounds in 10 Euroleague games.
Hendrix has an additional two season of Euroleague experience with Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv, with whom he reached the 2011 Euroleague final. He also helped the team to win consecutive Israeli League and Israeli Cup titles in 2011 and 2012 and lifted the Adriatic League trophy in 2012. Hendrix earned 2010-11 Euroleague Playoffs Game 1 MVP honors with a 16-point, 16-rebound effort against Caja Laboral. His strongest season was in 2011-12, when he averaged 8.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks in 21 Euroleague games Hendrix joined Maccabi in the summer of 2010 after a great season with Spanish side BC Granada, where he posted 13.1 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 34 games and was chosen as the league’s Newcomer of the Year. Before joining Granada, Hendrix spent one year in the NBA Development League following a successful college basketball career at the University of Alabama. He has also been a member of the USA under-18 national team.
