BC Khimki Moscow Region announced Wednesday that veteran guard Marko Popovic signed a two-year deal with the club. Popovic (1.85 meters, 31 years old), the 2011 Eurocup Final MVP, arrives from Zalgiris Kaunas. Last season he averaged 13.4 points and 2.2 assists in 21 Turkish Airlines Euroleague appearances. He ranked tenth in three-point shooting percentage (43.9 %) and in his career has buried 244 triples in 123 Euroleague games with five different teams, which ranks 13th on the competition’s career list.

Popovic grew up with Zadar in his native Croatia and was the hero of his team's 2003 Adriatic League title. He has also played for Valencia in Spain, Efes Pilsen in Turkey, Unics Kazan in Russia and Cibona in Croatia during his impressive career. Among Popovic’s list of titles are the Eurocup, Adriatic League and Croatian League crowns once each as well as the Baltic League twice and the Lithuanian League four times. He has also collected cups in Turkey, Lithuanian, Croatia and Russia. Popovic has represented the Croatian national team at the world’s most important events, including the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and the 2010 FIBA World Championships in Turkey.
