Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv picked up an important piece for the 2013-14 season in signing small forward Joe Ingles from FC Barcelona to a two-year deal on Wednesday. Ingles (2.03 meters, 25 years old) played 65 Euroleague games for Barca the past three seasons in helping the club reach the Turkish Airlines Euroleague Final Four in each of the past two seasons. He also collected two Spanish League crowns and one Copa del Rey title in that time. Ingles averaged 6 points and 2.1 rebounds in 29 Euroleague games last season and served as an important part of Barcelona’s top-rated defense.

Ingles is a product of the Australian Institute of Sport and also played for the Noarlunga City Tigers, Melbourne South Dragons and Bulleen Boomers in his native Australia. He helped Melbourne win the Australian League title in 2009. Ingles came to Europe in 2009 and spent a season and a half with CB Granada before joining Barcelona. He is a regular member of the Australian national team and played at both the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games as well as the 2010 FIBA World Championships.
